Creative Process

Good website design begins with LISTENING to what the client wants and needs while keeping functionality and design in mind.  It can’t just “look pretty”.  It needs to be a cohesive representation of each client’s brand.

Patty was incredibly easy to work with for one reason – she had a tremendous amount of clarity around what her site needed to portray her business as.  

She was also open to suggestions on how we could leverage WordPress and it’s features and plug-ins to create the site she “never knew she really wanted”.

Branding

Patty didn’t have an actual logo, or mark to use to represent her business, so that was one of the first tasks.  It set the tone for the rest of the site.

Colors

I created three different color palettes, all based on her original site’s color scheme.  We opted to use the rose-tone you see throughout the site as an accent color, after seeing it on the logo design.

Typography

Nothing “fancy” was the directive.  Just a clear, clean font that would not take away from her message.

 

Content / Images

Other than some tweaks here and there, all of the content featured was written by Patty.  It made sense given her subject matter expertise.  All images are her own, with one or two sourced and paid for.

Site Features

Here are some screenshots of the BEFORE version of the original site.  It utilized a left bar navigation menu.  The colors and iconography were dated, the photos were small and it was just a series of static HTML pages.
